Meet Laura Albesa, Founder of Black Magnolia 3D

Black Magnolia 3D began as a way to create the kind of dark, magical décor I couldn’t find anywhere else.

What started as a personal passion quickly became something much bigger — a world of creatures, dragons, and handmade art pieces designed with intention and imagination.

Every creature is printed, packed, and shipped with care from Atmore, Alabama — where darkness blooms and creativity lives.

Founder’s Story

Black Magnolia 3D was founded and is solely owned by Laura Albesa in Atmore, Alabama.

Black Magnolia began at home — not as a business, but as a way to create the kind of dark, luxurious décor I couldn’t find anywhere else.

I wanted my home office to feel bold, dramatic, and personal. At the time, a friend of mine had just started a 3D printing business, and I began commissioning custom pieces from him — creatures, décor, and designs that felt like they belonged in my space.

When he decided to step away from 3D printing, he asked if I wanted to buy his two printers.

I didn’t plan on starting a brand.
I didn’t plan on this growing the way it has.
I just wanted one-of-a-kind art for my own world.

Once the printers were mine, everything changed.

I started learning the craft hands-on — experimenting, failing, fixing, and creating pieces that felt intentional and alive. What began as décor for my home office quickly drew attention. People asked questions. They wanted pieces of their own.

And before I realized it, Black Magnolia 3D had taken root.

That’s when I became The Bloom Keeper.

As the Bloom Keeper, my role is to design, protect, and nurture every creation that comes from this studio. I oversee each piece from concept to completion, making sure it carries the character, texture, and soul that define Black Magnolia.

Nothing leaves this space without intention behind it.

Black Magnolia 3D is deeply hands-on and family-run. Many pieces pass through more than one set of hands before they’re finished. Curiosity is encouraged. Creativity is shared. Perfection is never the goal — character is.

I’m drawn to fantasy, folklore, and darker aesthetics — where luxury meets imagination, and beauty exists in unexpected places. Our creations are meant to be enjoyed: displayed proudly, handled often, and woven into everyday life.

Black Magnolia exists because I wanted something different — and because once the bloom began, I refused to stop tending it.
